Not quite as large as the Bentley and just as easy to drive. This car is a beauty with only 52,000 miles on the clock when purchased end of 2003. Test mileage carried out with no faults. Another style and comfort car with cavernous boot.
Launched in 1965 to replace the Silver Cloud, with some acclaim and some despair, the radical Silver Shadow was the first car produced by Rolls Royce with a monocoque design, all independent self-levelling suspension, and disc brakes. The main bodyshell was steel, while the door bonnet and boot were aluminium. The first cars had a 6.2 litre V8 engine and four speed automatic gearbox. This was replaced in 1970 7.25 litre engine with a 3 speed box in 1970.
The Series II replaced the Series I in the mid seventies, with uprated steering and rubber bumpers. The two models were the most produced car built by Rolls Royce, numbering about 20,000, in all their different types. There was also a Bentley marque, which accounted for around 8% of the total.
